The colour is generally on the outside, Monument, to match the dual black shingles. This will be used to position the drip edge 25mm below the bottom edge of the plywood. Overlap the drip edge material 100mm at the joins.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>TIP: \u201cNever nail through two layers of metal drip edge as it will expand in the heat and buckle and warp.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2706\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2706\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2706\" src=\"https:\/\/www.roofing-materials.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Outdoor-Gazebo-Underlay.jpg\" alt=\"Gazebo Kit Underlay\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roofing-materials.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Outdoor-Gazebo-Underlay.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.roofing-materials.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Outdoor-Gazebo-Underlay-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.roofing-materials.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Outdoor-Gazebo-Underlay-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2706\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gazebo Kit Underlay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is a full roll of asphalt-saturated felt used to cover the entire outdoor patio.\u00a0 One of these rolls covers 40 m2; however, you will lose some area to overlap.\u00a0 The use of the felt paper gives the entire system a Class A fire rating \u2013 Resisting severe exposure to fire.\u00a0 It also protects the asphalt shingles from toxins leaching out of the plywood.\u00a0 Roofing felt paper provides added protection against severe wind-driven rain and reduces the occurrence of picture framing, the visible outlines that appear when the plywood is not perfectly flat.<\/p>\n<p>Lay the asphalt-saturated felt material across the roof, starting at the bottom. The bottom edge of the felt paper should align with the bottom edge of the drip edge. When joining, you should overlap 100mm on vertical joins and 50mm on horizontal joins. Staple the paper down to hold the felt paper in place. When it is windy, it is useful to have someone to help, as it is hard to keep the paper in place.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>TIP \u201cBe aware that the asphalt saturated felt paper is only stapled down and it can slip under your feet. The sole use of this tape is to stop the asphalt shingles from sticking together in transit.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 701px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roofing-materials.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Snap-a-chalk-line-as-a-guide-for-the-starter-course.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"Snap a chalk line as a guide for the starter course\" src=\"https:\/\/www.roofing-materials.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Snap-a-chalk-line-as-a-guide-for-the-starter-course-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Snap a chalk line as a guide for the starter course\" width=\"701\" height=\"526\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Snap a chalk line as a guide for the starter course.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Measure 180mm from the bottom of the felt material on both ends, then snap a chalk line. This will be used as a guide for the starter course.\u00a0 The Starter course strips are 190mm deep, and when lined up with the chalk line, the bottom edge will overhang the felt material by 10mm.
